When It’s Time to Take Your Baby Home
In order to help make your discharge day a calm and well-planned event, please have the following things ready:
- Infant Car Seat – Motor vehicle crashes are number one cause of death of children over the age of six months in the U.S. The proper use of child car seats is one of the simplest and most effective methods available for protecting babies’ lives. There are numerous different types of infant/child car seats on the market today, with each having its own installation technique. It is your responsibility as a parent to make sure the car seat is properly installed. Be sure to read and understand the manufacturer’s instructions for the car seat use BEFORE YOUR BABY IS BORN. Put your baby in the car seat for the first ride home and anytime the baby rides in the car, for their safety and as required by law.
- Clothes to take the baby home (depending on weather and time of the year) and a baby blanket.
- List of questions for the doctors (both mom’s and baby’s).
