Breast Reconstruction Services – JFK Medical Center

Reconstruction

With a focus on women’s breast and bone health, the Breast Center at JFK Medical Center is proud to offer a wide range of surgeries and services to prevent and address breast cancer. Among these surgeries are various types of mastectomies, which involve the removal of a single or both breasts, as well as lymph nodes and other muscle tissue near the breast, depending on the patient. While these surgeries provide an important option for cancer care, they can also result in changes to a patient's appearance. To help ensure you feel comfortable with your treatment plan and appearance, the Breast Center at JFK Medical Center can perform reconstructive surgery after the mastectomy has taken place.

How Does Breast Reconstruction Work?

Breast reconstruction is a task carefully undertaken by JFK Medical Center’s experienced plastic surgeons. During the operation, our surgeons will comprehensively rebuild the breast mound while replicating the size and shape of the patient’s breast before the mastectomy took place. In addition to the mound, our surgeons can incorporate both the nipple and the areola into the surgery. Each breast reconstruction surgery is performed with the patient in mind, and we carefully adjust every aspect of the operation to your personal needs.

It's also important to keep in mind that while reconstruction is most often performed after a mastectomy, it may also be offered in other scenarios. Although most lumpectomies don't necessitate reconstructive breast surgery, your surgeon will discuss all available options with you to ensure you're prepared to make well-informed decisions.

Why JFK Medical Center?

The Breast Center at JFK Medical Center goes well beyond simply providing the medical services you need to tackle breast cancer head-on. Through our Nurse Navigator Program, you’ll be paired with a breast patient navigator who will guide you along your journey by coordinating appointments, seeking out appropriate hospital/community resources and offering numerous other types of support before, during and after your treatment.

Beyond mastectomies, lumpectomies and reconstructions, we also offer a comprehensive, specialized selection of diagnostic services to address your every need, including mammography, ultrasound, biopsies and much more. Give us a call at (732) 205-1417 or contact us online to learn more about the Breast Center.

DEXA Scan

DEXA Scan

How do you know whether you are suffering from osteoporosis?

To determine whether you are suffering from osteoporosis you need a bone density test. You will be subjected to an advanced bone mineral density (BMD) which is done using a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedure. A case of osteoporosis test is detectable by use of an X-ray scan in which osteopenia can be diagnosed. If your test for osteopenia test is positive, osteoporosis is just beginning to take root in your body.

How can you benefit from a DEXA scan of osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis is life-threatening and can limit your mobility. It not only affects the strength of your bones, but also makes them susceptible to fractures.

A DEXA scan is your best option for detecting osteoporosis. The DEXA scan is formulated to test the bone mineral density of the critical parts of your skeletal muscular system. Your DEXA scan with our medical specialists will involve a test of the spine, hip, wrist and any other major part of the skeletal system that will be fit to apply to your personal diagnosis of osteoporosis.

Once your diagnosis has been complete you will be given a directive of lifestyle changes to combat osteoporosis. The doctor who will give you a DEXA scan will also give you treatment to correct the loss of bone density. A positive diagnosis of osteoporosis will either result in short-term or long-term treatment to reduce your risk of a bone fracture and restore your bone density.

How early detection of osteoporosis can improve your quality of life?

With an early diagnosis of osteoporosis, your doctor at JFK Medical Center will give you a detailed examination and analysis of any symptoms of osteoporosis. The primary reason why you should take advantage of the DEXA bone density scan is to evaluate the health of your bones, especially their density. As a result, you will be able to prevent further deterioration or rather bone density loss and low bone mass before the onset of osteoporosis.

You might be wondering whether a DEXA Density scan poses any health risks on your body. Well, a DEXA bone density test involves the use of advanced X-ray technology which is pain-free and absolutely non-intrusive. You should also note that a DEXA bone density scan is the best technology available when it comes to diagnosing osteoporosis.

Contact us to book an appointment with our medical staff to receive the most accurate and technologically advanced diagnosis of osteoporosis and receive early prevention and treatment depending on the health of your bones.

Thyroid, Pelvic and Abdominal Ultrasounds

Thyroid Pelvic and Abdominal Ultrasounds

Ultrasound Imaging

Thyroid, pelvic and abdominal ultrasounds are cutting-edge imaging tests which use sound waves to accurately produce digital images of these organs.

Ultrasound imaging of the thyroid, pelvic and the abdomen is a practically painless and safe diagnosis method to look at your body under medical lenses. Ultrasound imaging makes it quite easy for our doctors to scan the thyroid, pelvic and abdomen to detect abnormal conditions which might be a symptom of a disease.

You do not have to worry about surgical procedures with our ultrasound imaging tests since the ultrasound technology is mostly external and rarely invasive. Our highly-trained physicians are qualified and vastly experienced in thyroid, pelvic and abdomen ultrasound imaging and you can rest assured that you will get a definitive diagnosis for any condition.

Why an abdominal ultrasound imaging exam?

Typically, an abdominal ultrasound is employed to detect symptoms that can help identify any problems affecting the abdominal organs such as liver disease, gallstones, kidney stones and cases of inflammatory infections. We conduct professional and detailed ultrasound imaging of the abdomen to give you a definitive diagnosis. An abdominal ultrasound test at our premises involves a scan of your abdomen by a sonographer and projecting of the images of your abdomen on the screen to determine any conditions that may be affecting your body. Our sonographer will answer any questions you may have.

Why a pelvic ultrasound exam?

Given the focus of ultrasound technology, a pelvic ultrasound gives you an accurate assessment of pain and any other sign of a disease in the pelvis.

More importantly, it is greatly helpful to pregnant women since we use obstetrical ultrasound to determine the health of the mother and the fetus. A pelvic ultrasound is harmless and pain-free and the detailed observation of the internal organs lasts an hour at most. Once the test is over, we will help determine any cause of concern and begin treatment immediately.

Why a thyroid ultrasound exam?

A thyroid ultrasound is an imaging procedure used to scan the thyroid gland. The thyroid ultrasound test monitors the nodules of the thyroid gland, in the case of an infection, have abnormal shapes and cysts. The test will give you a clear indication of whether your thyroid gland is infected or not.

Ultrasound-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration

Ultrasound Fine Needle Aspiration in Edison NJ - JFK Medical Center

At JFK Medical Center, we pride ourselves on being a leader in specialized diagnostic services to give you the most advanced diagnosis in identifying illnesses and stopping them at the earliest stage.

When our doctors take you in for diagnosis, they use a full-spectrum diagnosis method which is aided by accurate and innovate technologies. You are getting the most qualified care available when you opt for our diagnostic services. Although you might have faced frustration with identifying invasive and abnormal breast tissues, our ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration beats other traditional diagnostic methods to give you an accurate diagnosis of what may be affecting your body.

Why ultrasound-fine needle aspiration technology?

While there are various methods of diagnosing breast cancer such as traditional mammography screening, JFK Medical Center has adopted new technologies for effective detection and analysis of cell biopsies. Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration technologies have drastically improved the way our doctors diagnose breast cancer where there are symptoms of cancerous body tissues.

The use of ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration is an advanced method of diagnosis that is superior to a mammography and quite definitive since it gives a clear picture of the health of the tissue of the breast.

While most traditional methods of detecting breast cancer rely on physical signs, an ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration empowers doctors to draw fluid with precision from a microscopic tissue of the breast for biopsy with a degree of high reliability.
Our doctors will give you a highly reliable diagnosis since the ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration has a high rate of accuracy. We only operate on the specific tissues that will give you a clear indication of whether or not a breast lump is a cause for worry.

Ultrasound-fine needle aspiration biopsy

Although most breast lumps pass for non-cancerous cases, a biopsy of the breast is typically the most reliable and accurate form of diagnosis to ascertain cases of cancer. With our ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration technology, we conduct a highly-specialized procedure to remove breast tissue in a pain-free setting.

Our technique is void of stitching and you will experience the least discomfort, if any, and there is a minimal invasion of the breast tissue with this procedure. Our radiologists excel at employing ultrasound in guiding the needle to extract breast tissue for a biopsy.

If you have been frustrated by traditional mammography tests and their invasive yet limited ability to detect and determine cases of cancer, we are here to give you the ultimate diagnosis you have been looking for. With an ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration, you will experience the best diagnostic method for detecting breast cancer in a safe, and comfortable procedure at our premises with no margin for error.

Contact us for an appointment with our medical specialists to give you a professional and definitive diagnosis of breast cancer.
