The Stroke and Cerebrovascular Program

The JFK Stroke and Cerebrovascular Program is #1 in New Jersey and is in the Top 5% in the Country.

The Stroke and Cerebrovascular Program, part of the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at JFK Medical Center is a leading comprehensive stroke program that offers a multidisciplinary approach to stroke evaluation and treatment, providing wide-ranging inpatient and outpatient care.  The program was established to provide early diagnosis and management of acute stroke and to reduce the disability and mortality from stroke.

The Center is staffed and equipped to evaluate, treat and prevent all forms of stroke and vascular conditions leading to stroke. Treatment modalities include surgical and drug treatments, as well as innovative endovascular procedures such as intra-arterial tPA, mechanical clot-busting, angioplasty with stenting, and embolic protection in the removal of blockages in the brain.

The most appropriate level of care is offered to stroke patients in our specialized neuro-intensive care unit staffed by trained neurocritical care and stroke specialists. Rapid diagnosis is aided by the latest imaging techniques, including CT, angiography and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA).

JFK Medical Center’s Stroke and Cerebrovascular Program is designated as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and is a recipient of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award. We are a leader in providing around-the-clock comprehensive stroke services for New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area.
