The Neurosurgery Program at the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute provides state-of-the-art surgical care for a wide variety of disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves in a supportive setting. The internationally recognized surgical team has expertise in offering both invasive and non-invasive treatments.

Operating rooms are equipped with the latest technology and instrumentation to perform everything from microneurosurgery to complex spine stabilization. Our neuropathologist consults with the neurosurgeons during surgery to assure that each procedure is properly managed. Our dedicated operating room staff is complemented by a neurosurgical intensive care team that applies as much attention to postoperative care as is dedicated to the surgical procedure.

There is also a team of physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple acute and chronic pain syndromes, including cancer-related pain. They are dedicated to improving the quality of life of patients, helping them return to a functional and productive existence. Treatment options offered include: medical therapy, surgical intervention, invasive and non-invasive pain management techniques (soft tissue manipulation, trigger point injections, botox injection for pain secondary to muscular spasm, vertebroplasty, Gamma Knife radiosurgery for trigeminal neuralgia and epidural and direct nerve injections) and alternative methods including acupuncture.

Rehabilitation to restore and improve function as part of treatment or post-surgery is carried out by specially trained therapists at the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. If long-term care is required, the JFK Hartwyck Nursing, Convalescent and Rehabilitation Centers (in Edison and Plainfield) offer skilled nursing and respite care in pleasant, comfortable surroundings.

Physicians at the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute are part of the faculty of the Department of Neuroscience of Seton Hall University’s School of Graduate Medical Education.
