more_about_nuring__nursepatient_4_180At Solaris, our 1000-plus nursing workforce practices in a highly professional environment. The Nursing Division of Solaris Health System - JFK Medical Center and Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center - is proud that our philosophy of nursing commits us to meeting the health care needs of individuals in our community. The professional practice of our nursing staff is guided by the beliefs and values outlined in our philosophy of nursing - "The Essence of Nursing at Solaris" - Excellence, Service, Safety, Evidence-Based Practice, New Technology, Cultural Diversity and Ethical Standards.

We place the patient at the center of our care and guide our care utilizing the Solaris Nursing Theoretical Framework (WHO Theory), which blends the theoretical frameworks of Watson, Henderson, and Orem. Our Model of Nursing Practice guides our role though autonomous practice and a commitment to patient satisfaction. With pride, we adhere on a daily basis to the ANA Nurses Bill of Rights, ANA Code of Ethics, and ANA scope and Standards of Practice.

As a nurse at Solaris you will practice in a Shared Governance environment where all nurses participate in decision-making and committee work. We believe in professional growth and are committed to the life-long learning of our professional staff.

The nursing governance structure at Solaris Health System adopts the councilar approach. The structure is composed of five councils as well as the Nursing Coordinating Council. Four councils - Professional Practice Council, Nursing Performance Improvement Council, Advanced Practice Nursing Council and Nursing Education Council - are staff-driven and decisions are made by the members. The Nursing Management Council is comprised of all nurse managers who manage a nursing unit or service. Each functional council elects a chair and a co-chair.

Through our Differentiated Practice Model (DPM) we demonstrate our belief that Nursing drives the clinical excellence agenda and our greatest asset is the nursing professional. Investing in and supporting professional nursing will positively affect the care we give our patients. Our DPM promotes and rewards advancement in clinical proficiency and expertise along with contributions at the bedside and recognizes responsibility and accountability to develop and advance your clinical practice.

The DPM has four progressive levels that focus on education, years of experience, clinical skill level, ability to function as a clinical resource, certification, contact hours and our unique Clinical Areas of Excellence Point System that allows our staff flexibility to meet their DPM goals.

Flexibility is also evident in the special scheduling programs we offer our RNs including 8,9,12 hour shifts, as well as special weekend and evening/night shift positions that offer full time benefits for reduced hours!Join us as this exciting time for nursing at Solaris. We are pursuing Magnet Recognition to be recognized nationally for the excellent care that nurses and other Solaris team members provide to our patients as we journey to clinical excellence.
