The Center for Behavioral Health, located on the JFK Medical Center campus, provides a wide array of comprehensive outpatient services for individuals suffering from substance or mental health problems.  It has served the community for more than 25 years.

Licensed by the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Addiction Services and reviewed independently as a specialty department by the Joint Commission, the Center is staffed by a Board Certified Psychiatrist, Licensed Psychologists, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Licensed Addiction Specialists.  The department offers a wide variety of therapeutic options that includes individual, group and family therapies and psychiatric and medication evaluations. Substance Abuse services include an Intensive Outpatient Program as well as a variety of group treatments. We also provide an Anger Management Group.

Our STEPS department, located at the JFK- Muhlenberg campus in Plainfield, is an outpatient substance abuse program and has provided services to Union County residents for over 20 years. Our Licensed Addiction Specialists provide a myriad of therapeutic and educational treatment options to individuals suffering with addiction.

Both departments have affiliation agreements with Middlesex and Union Counties’ IDRC (Intoxicated Drivers Resource Center) and provide assessment and treatment plans.  Also these departments have Division of Addiction Services grant funding for specialty services.  If interested, please inquire regarding funding and treatment options.

Precertification from insurance companies is suggested.

The Center for Behavioral Health is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  For additional information, please call (732) 321-7189.
