EDISON, NJ (February 14, 2012) - The Metuchen Rotary Club understands the hardship that Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related disorders can have on the individual and his/her caretakers. With that being said, the Rotary Club will be hosting a Bowl-A-Thon on Saturday, February 25th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Stelton Lanes in Piscataway. Proceeds raised from the event will benefit the JFK Adult Medical Day Program - an affiliate of JFK Health System.
All are invited to join in on the day’s activities. An entry fee of $40 is required to participate, and can be raised via donations and/or personal and corporate sponsorships. Bowlers are strongly encouraged to raise funds beyond the entry fee through “pay per pin” sponsorships.
The JFK Adult Medical Day Program offers caretakers the flexibility they need by providing a caring and nurturing environment for their loved one during the day. The Center, which is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., makes available nursing care, recreational programs and social activities designed to enhance a participant’s quality of life, as well as door-to-door transportation, nutritious meals and snacks, and social services.
“The Metuchen Rotary Club is truly focused on making a difference in the community through volunteer and other goodwill initiatives,” said Mary Buglio, Director of the JFK Adult Medical Day Program. “They have been sponsoring the Bowl-a-Thon for the past 8 years and has raised over $15,000 for the JFK Adult Medical Day Care program.”
The Metuchen Rotary Club is also a member of Rotary International -- a worldwide organization of more than 1.2 million business professionals and community leaders who provide humanitarian service.
For additional information on the Bowl-A-Thon, please contact Mary Buglio at (908) 912-1910.
