PLAINFIELD, NJ (January 4, 2012) - The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) has awarded the JFK-Muhlenberg Snyder Schools of Nursing an 8-year continued accreditation, the maximum given by the NLNAC. The continued accreditation was given after a rigorous process that included a three-day site visit.
NLNAC ensures the quality and integrity of Diploma, Associate, Baccalaureate and Post-Graduate nursing programs.
The On-site survey visit occurred in October of 2011. During that time, the NLNAC site team toured the school and clinical facility. They visited with faculty and groups of students, medical center administrative personnel and nurse managers and observed nursing classes and clinical practice. The site team found the school to be in compliance with all the NLNAC accreditation standards.
“The support of the faculty, students, JFK and Union County College were key factors in a successful site visit,” said Dean Judith Mathews, Ph.D, R.N.
“We are proud of our outstanding faculty and staff, nurses and students whose contributions made the site visit a success,” said Raymond Fredericks, President and CEO, JFK Health System.
The JFK-Muhlenberg Snyder Schools of Nursing has been educating nurses since 1894. Graduates of the program receive a diploma from the school and a Associates in Science Degree from Union County College. The school is also accredited by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
The JFK-Muhlenberg Snyder Schools of Nursing offers a 2 ½ year program in cooperation with Union County College graduates are eligible for licensure as registered nurses in the state of New Jersey. The curriculum includes 37 general education credits and 38 nursing credits.
“The School of Nursing provides a curriculum which challenges student in both the classroom and clinical settings,” explained Dean Mathews. “Fostering confidence and competence is of utmost importance, and is addressed in the program from the first day of class. Students are afforded the opportunity to combine clinical practice and academic instruction, which serves as entry into the profession of nursing.”
