Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center to Sponsor Lecture by Decorated Army Veteran and Author
Edison, NJ─ The Haven Hospice program at JFK Medical Center is proud to sponsor Joseph Belardo, Sr., a decorated Army veteran and author, for a lecture titled, Veterans and the End of Life, Their Final Pass and Review, on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.
The lecture is open to the public and will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the JFK Conference Center, 70 James Street in Edison.
Joseph Belardo, Sr. was drafted in 1966. After basic training, he was sent to Vietnam and assigned to the 44th Artillery, better known as “Dusters”. Although he was in the Army, his unit was deployed to Vietnam as the 3rd Marine Division’s combat mobile fighting team. Joe and his crew of Duster C131 hold the distinct honor of being the last to leave Vietnam. Belardo holds numerous medals and commendations, has appeared in three television documentaries, and is an active military historian lecturer for various New Jersey Universities and high schools. Joseph’s most recently published book is titled “Dusterman Vietnam-The Story of the Last Great Gunfighters.”
This lecture is sponsored by Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center. Haven Hospice is a program for patients and their families who are coping with a life-threatening illness.
