The New JFK Emergency Pavilion

pavillion

To better serve the community, JFK Medical Center is proud to announce a new and expanded Emergency Department is under construction to replace our increasingly busy emergency room. The plan calls for constructing a three-story, 80,000-square-foot addition above the existing Emergency Department site.

The new JFK Emergency Pavilion is based on a vision of a patient-centered design.  From private rooms, specialty treatment areas and easier access to the emergency specialists, the new facility will ensure that a patient’s needs are not only met… but exceeded.

Design features offer an environment that optimizes not only emergency treatment but also family interaction.  Every patient bay, that used to be open and only separated by curtains, will now be enclosed and larger. This means patients and their families have more space to themselves and greater privacy as they receive treatment and talk together.  In addition, digital technology will make it possible to offer a film-less imaging environment, bringing test results faster and more efficiently to the bedside.

The new facility will also offer a Pediatric Emergency Room dedicated to children and their families, offering 16 private pediatric treatment rooms. The Pediatric ED will have a separate and private entrance so that children and their parents will not have to enter the main ED where there might be situations occurring that could be confusing, upsetting or even frightening to a child.
